Additional learning support

At Bellevue Hill Public School, we want every student to feel confident, included and ready to learn. We provide support for students with disability and additional learning needs so they can participate fully in all aspects of school life. A formal diagnosis is not required for your child to receive help in a mainstream classroom, and support can be provided at any stage of their schooling.

Support that fits your child's needs

We are committed to helping every child feel confident, supported and ready to learn. Some students need additional help at different points in their schooling, and we work closely with families to plan adjustments that meet each child’s individual needs.

Our support can include targeted literacy and numeracy programs, specialist EAL/D support for students learning English, and tailored enrichment for high potential and gifted learners. We also provide small group or one to one assistance, regular check ins, and flexible learning routines to help students stay engaged. When needed, we make classroom adjustments such as accessible learning spaces, assistive technology, visual supports and modified resources.

Assessment adjustments may be offered to ensure students can demonstrate what they know. These might include extra time, simplified language, breaks during tasks or alternative formats such as oral presentations.

We identify learning needs through ongoing assessment, teacher observations, behaviour changes and conversations with parents and carers. Our Learning Support Team works in partnership with families to develop plans, review progress and update supports throughout the year.

Adjustments are planned with parents and carers. They are reviewed regularly and changed when needed.  If you think your child may need extra help, contact us.

Learning and support team

At Bellevue Hill Public School, our Learning and Support Team works to ensure every student receives the right help at the right time. The team partners with teachers, families and specialist staff to understand each student’s needs, plan appropriate adjustments and monitor progress throughout the year. When required, we also help connect families with additional services and supports beyond the classroom.

Our team includes a range of experienced professionals such as learning and support teachers, school learning support officers, counsellors, psychologists, EAL/D teachers and other specialist staff who support wellbeing, attendance and diverse learning needs. Together, they collaborate to create personalised strategies that help students thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

If you would like to discuss your child’s strengths, interests or areas where they may need extra support, please contact us to arrange a meeting with a member of our Learning and Support Team.
