Wellbeing
At Bellevue Hill Public School, we know that children learn best when they feel happy, safe and connected.
Wellbeing is central to our approach, and we work to ensure each student feels confident, included and ready to learn. Whatever your child’s mental, emotional, social or physical needs may be, we are here to help them grow and succeed.
How we support student wellbeing
Supporting each student’s wellbeing is part of everyday school life. Our approach is proactive, positive and aligned with the NSW Student Behaviour Policy and Behaviour Code for Students.
At our school, we provide wellbeing support through:
• teachers who create welcoming, inclusive and supportive learning environments
• access to school counsellors, school psychologists and specialist staff
• programs that build resilience, social skills, health and positive behaviour
• support for students who are new to the school or transitioning between year levels
• clear expectations for respectful behaviour and positive relationships
• staff who get to know every child and work closely with families
• health care plans for students with medical needs
• open, ongoing communication about wellbeing and support
Our School Behaviour Support and Management Plan (SBSMP) outlines our whole school, prevention focused and positive approaches to behaviour support, including anti bullying strategies and learning continuity. You can learn more in our Student Wellbeing Handbook.
We also use the Grow Your Mind program to teach students practical, evidence based strategies for resilience, emotional regulation and positive mental health. Our students engage strongly with this program and benefit from its classroom lessons and activities.
