Kindergarten enrolment for 2024

Bellevue Hill Public School looks forward to warmly welcoming Kindergarten students starting school in 2024.

We will have a range of school tours and parent information sessions on offer as well as Kindergarten orientation sessions planned for your smooth transition into our wonderful school community. Please stay tuned for further information - if you have submitted your application forms in already then we will have your email contact details.

Your child can start Kindergarten at the beginning of the school year if they turn five on or before 31 July in that year. By law, all children must be enrolled in school by their sixth birthday. If you're not sure what year your child should start school this helpful website can work it out for you - School Age Calculator Australia (schoolwix.com)

It is important that you let us know if your child has any special circumstances, allergies, health or medical conditions before your child starts school.

When to start your child at school is an individual decision. You may want to discuss this with us or with your child's preschool teacher, carer or doctor.

Please see our enrolment page for detailed information about enrolling your child at Bellevue Hill Public School.

To find out whether you live within the Bellevue Hill Public School catchment area please search for your address using the School Finder website.

Bellevue Hill Public School proudly presents our latest film - A Day in the Life of a BHPS Kindergarten!

The 2020 Kindergarteners and their teachers have kindly starred in a film outlining a typical school day so that the students due to start school next year (and their parents!) can have a better understanding of what happens each day in the Kindergarten classrooms. You'll see our Kindergarteners engaging in literacy and numeracy lessons, STEM, library, conceptual learning and wellbeing activities and enjoying playtime at recess and lunch.

Further information

Kindergarten is an important year of schooling as children formally begin to develop their literacy and numeracy skills. Our whole school community will help your child adjust to school and help them to feel comfortable.

Preparing for Kindergarten

You can help your child prepare for Kindergarten and be organised for the first day. Watch what happens on a typical day in Kindergarten classrooms. Visit our school to help your child feel more comfortable and to start getting to know people there.

Best Start Kindergarten Assessment

The best start assessment is a tool to help teachers assess your child's skills as they enter school, and to tailor teaching to their individual needs. Teachers will sit with your child when they start school to assess your child's literacy and numeracy skills so that they can develop an appropriate teaching program that caters for your child.
